Dr. Debasis Datta, MD, DNB, DTMH, FRCP (London), FRCP (Edinburgh), CCST (General Medicine & Gastroenterology), is a director and senior consultant in gastroenterology and hepatology at Fortis Hospitals, Kolkata.
He completed his MD thesis from IPGMER, Kolkata, and obtained a DTMH (Diploma in Tropical Medicine) from the School of Tropical Medicine, Kolkata. After completing his DNB training in India, Dr. Datta underwent extensive training in gastroenterology and hepatology in the Northwest London region.
Dr. Datta spent 16 years in the UK, working as a consultant in Hillingdon Mount Vernon Hospitals and Bishopswood Private Hospital. He completed a visiting fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, USA, and a two-year research stint on liver metabolism at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital.
Dr. Datta served as a tutor at the Royal College in London and was an educational and clinical supervisor for the college. He has trained several gastroenterologists in the UK who are currently working as consultants. Currently, Dr. Datta is one of the overseas advisors in India for the Royal College of Physicians, London.
He is also a trained PACES examiner. Dr. Datta has published several articles on gastroenterology and hepatology in peer-reviewed journals, with his latest publication appearing in Scientific Reports. He has presented papers at many international conferences, including the World Congress, and American and British conferences.
He specializes in liver and pancreatic diseases, IBD, and interventional endoscopies.
